Dubai Golf, which owns Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, invested in 250 E-Z-GO RXV golf cars with Textron Fleet Management in 2017. After using the technology for more than a year now, Rhys James, Golf Services Manager at Emirates Golf Club, spoke about his experience with TFM.
“The golf cars with TFM GPS have definitely added a new dimension to our business,” Rhys said. “The system is very user-friendly, and we are able to change pin positions with ease; in fact, we can change all 18 positions in less than 10 minutes. As well as improved communication between the club and the golfers, we are able to capitalise on third-party advertising, and promote tournaments or any special offers that we have.
“Members and guests have been very impressed with the system. The yardage is accurate, which helps improve their scores… and self-esteem! The feedback I have received indicates that the golfers also find the interface easy to navigate.”
TKVGPS’ web-based fleet-management software allows its systems to be managed from a wide range of PC and mobile hardware platforms, often by leveraging hardware already in place at the golf course.
“Many areas of the course are sandy, and it is dangerous for golf cars to enter these areas,” Rhys continued. “We used to have issues with cars getting stuck, but with the TFM GPS technology, we have been able to geofence these areas to prevent accidents from happening. It’s a lot safer now, which is probably the biggest advantage of the system.”
